River's Edge Trail includes 12.5 paved miles running through Great Falls, stretching from Broadwater Bay to Crooked Falls along the south side and part of the north side of the Missouri River. It is a continuing cooperative project with numerous governmental agencies, businesses and volunteer citizen groups working together. Continuous pavement on most of the trail makes it especially accommodating to people in wheelchairs or on roller skates. River's Edge Trail has become one of Montana's finest recreational trails, and its popularity continues to grow. Next year will see completion of the Weissman Memorial Bridge and a new trailhead near 6th Street. Soon it will be possible to hike or bike approximately 17 miles on paved and gravel trail from 1st Ave N. through Black Eagle and the old Anaconda Co. property to beyond Ryan & Morony dam. Tthe annual River's Edge Trail Moonlight Luminaria Walk has become a great tradition. Musicians, entertainers, refreshments and 1500 luminaria line a two mile stretch of the trail between the caboose and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
